Sports Leaders UK - Coleg Cambria
On the 23rd January 2017, our North Wales Team; Kevin and Chiara headed over to the Deeside Campus of Coleg Cambria to deliver the first of four days of the Sports Leaders UK course to 13 Sports students. Consisting of both practical and theory work, it was set to be a very busy and content packed week of delivery!
Throughout the week, the 13 students showed excellent competency and willingness to actively engage in the course. Having had to plan and deliver three 15 minute sessions; which consisted of a sports session of their choosing, an obscure activity - such as juggling, and a mini sports event before their own individual assessments, each student showed fantastic improvements in their leadership skills throughout the week, proving they were all set to become confident Sports Leaders!
During the course, the students also got the opportunity to participate in fun team building activities; as shown in the picture to the right, the students split into teams to attempt to build the tallest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows! These fun activities taught the participants the importance of team work to achieve success, but also brought out their competitive sides!
When it came to Assessment Day, all 13 students put their knowledge and experience from the week into practice and delivered incredible sports sessions, demonstrating competence and brilliant Sports Leaders skills. We have no doubt that these students will now put their new skills to good use and become active members of their community by leading fun and active sessions! We would just like to give a big thanks to Coleg Cambria for allowing us to deliver the course within their facility, and a big congratulations to all of the students who successfully completed the Sports Leaders UK course!
