Treharris heritage event

On Saturday 19 September a heritage event was held at Treharris Boys’ and Girls’ Club. Alexander Jehu, a volunteer from the club, has collected old pictures and documents about the Boys’ and Girls’ Club and the nearby old colliery that has financed the club for many years. He has prepared this exhibition as a part of his Duke of Edinburgh’s event.

Additionally to these memorabilia, a film was shown which explained the production process of coal in the old collieries in the Valleys.

During four hours, visitors had the possibility to learn more about our organisation’s first club and to share their own memories about the club and the colliery with us. Our #CLUBFOCUS coordinator Cathryn Evans interviewed people who has been involved in Treharris’ history themselves, for example as a volunteer in the club or as a collier in the Deep Navigation in Treharris.
