UsGirls activities in North Wales
The Easter holidays were a busy time for the North Wales Office. On Saturday 26th March some girls from the Conwy Us Girls projects ran in Llandudno’s 5K Prom Run. The weather was miserable but we had a great turn out and it didn’t dampen our spirits! All girls completed the run with great times and we were extremely proud of all who took part.
We also ran an Us Girls Activity Day which was hugely successful with more than 25 new girls taking part in different taster sessions. We were excited to have Welsh Cycling there to provide cycling skills. Hockey Wales attended and delivered hockey to a group of young people that had never tried it before, starting with some fun skill games and progressed in to a small hockey game. Other activities included cardio tennis from Tennis Wales, rugby skills from WRU, Llandudno Football in the Community delivered some exciting football games and volunteers from Conwy Youth Service delivered badminton and dodgeball.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody that helped make the day a success! We got great feedback from all girls involved and we are looking to provide some of these activities on a weekly basis in our Monday Llandudno session.
In the Easter holidays the Us Girls participants also went trampolining which was thoroughly enjoyed by all! The lesson provided the girls with the opportunity to try a new activity and develop basic trampolining skills.
We are still running Us Girls sessions in Llandudno, 4-5PM every Monday in Ty Hapus, and Denbigh, 6-7PM every Thursday in the Denbigh Hwb and looking at starting some in Colwyn Bay!
